We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ting Ting Guan. Check out our conversation below.
Ting Ting, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I love to start my day without electronics. It is part of how I deepen my connection with my intuition and allow my nervous system to gently adjust to being awake. I begin each day with a tea ceremony of my favorite herbal or green tea to make sure I warm my stomach and hydrate for the day. I practice a short meditation and prayer and finish the 90 minutes off with my GuanJing movement to open the body and get the blood circulating.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a movement artist, author, and creator of GuanJing Method- I am devoted to helping people reconnect with their bodies, breath, and inner vitality.
GuanJing translates to “the essence or spirit of the mountain pass”- to move through life with the gracious of the wind and water flowing through lifes most challenging terrains. Learning how to flow with lifes curveballs and dance, channel, and direct its energy.
What makes my work unique is its focus on energy flow and emotional transformation through movement. GuanJing isn’t about performance or perfection—it’s about feeling deeply, releasing blockages, and awakening the natural intelligence of the body. I believe movement is medicine, and when we learn to move with Qi, we return to our most radiant, alive state.
Right now, I’m leading global trainings online and in person in locations like Mexico, Bali, UK and Egypt, where we train in advanced Qi cultivation and embody the art of moving meditation in nature’s most powerful settings.
My mission is to inspire people to move, breathe, and live with more joy, ease, and connection to their essence.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Impatience and rushing! I realize how much my whole family rushed. Nothing was quick enough, efficient enough, fast enough. I realize now how much to trait negatively impacted my nervous system and fired up perpetual anxiety .
I realize now that to always rush and be impatient is coming from scarcity mode. It is the anxiety of missing out or not getting enough. My parents were poor farmers in China during the shift from Communism and there had been an ancestral trauma of not receiving what was needed. They had to be first in their class in order to get the scholarship, the first in line for them to get fed.
Chronic rushing is also a sign of not accepting where you are and the present moment- which robs us of experiencing the true magic of life. Keeping the mind and body in a state of acceptance and relaxation is how we can truly learn to receive our highest desires in life.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes- this was right before GuanJing was birthed!
Before GuanJing, I was a yoga teacher in Bali, I was successfully leading retreats and hosting teacher trainings there. All this changed when I fell in love and decided to move with him to Los Angeles.
Once in LA- I could not find students. No yoga studios hired me, and I couldn’t even find a job as a waitress. My bank account was draining down to nothing and I became severely depressed. I was at the brink of suicide- what was the point in life, if my life purpose was not needed?
At the depths of my depression- I no longer wanted to meditate or practice Yoga, I had so much chronic tension in my body from the overwhelming amounts of frustration and stress of where I was in life.
My body suddenly wanted to move in a different way- I closed my eyes and went inward and allowed the energy flowing through take over and dance through my body. After each session I felt so much lighter, and trusted in life again.
So I decided to practice in public- at the beach and in the parks. Each time I practiced, when I finished and opened my eyes- I had a crowd of people standing ,staring in awe and eagerly wanting to know what this movement was and how they could learn.
It happened so often and with such large amounts of people! I remember looking up at the sky thinking
” Oh Universe, I hear you- but how do I make this into a business?” fast forward to today and we have hundreds of students in our online membership and global trainings that become full.
It is a beautiful reminder that in the most darkest of places is sometimes where the most beautiful magic happens.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I believe that to become the most capable, powerful, and loving person- you must be in a place of balance.
Fads are usually the extremes of something- the 10 step skin care routine, the diet cutting out whole food groups. Foundational shifts create a sense of balance- Ying and Yang in your life.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace surrounded in nature, with beloved company. As I grow older, thriving connected community becomes more and more important to me. My friendships and relationships with Soul connected family have become a crucial part of my peace and joy.
