Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Shirkhodaei.
Sophia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For me, flowers have always been more than décor — they’re emotion, storytelling, and art. Fleurs De Sophia was born from that belief and a lifelong love for beauty, design, and the poetry found in nature.
After years working with renowned florists in Los Angeles, New York, and Italy, I was inspired to create something more personal — a couture floral studio where every stem carries meaning and every design tells a story.
At Fleurs De Sophia — Couture in Bloom, we specialize in luxury events, weddings and bespoke floral installations, blending refined artistry with an intimate, romantic aesthetic. Each piece is designed with intention — a harmony of color, texture, and emotion — to bring elegance and soul to life’s most meaningful moments.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many professional creative journeys, it hasn’t always been a smooth road — but it’s been deeply meaningful. I started Fleurs De Sophia in 2020, during the stillness of the pandemic. At a time when the world paused, creating with flowers became both an escape and a way to bring beauty into uncertain days.
Those early months were filled with learning — from navigating supply challenges to building a presence without events or traditional marketing. The greatest challenge was finding visibility while staying true to the heart of the brand. I wanted Fleurs De Sophia to feel intentional and artful, each piece crafted with emotion and story.
That philosophy required patience. Growth was never rushed — every decision, design, and client relationship evolved organically. Over time, I learned to balance artistry with business, to pair creative passion with structure.
Looking back, I see those early obstacles as part of the process — necessary seasons of growth, like the way every bloom faces wind and weather before it opens. This journey has reminded me that even in stillness, beauty finds a way to bloom.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Fleurs De Sophia, floral design is more than decoration — it’s an art form that evokes emotion, memory, and quiet beauty. Each creation is composed with intention, blending refined structure with natural movement to feel both timeless and alive. My style is soft, romantic, and elegant — rooted in harmony and subtle detail.
What truly sets Fleurs De Sophia apart is its philosophy: flowers are not simply accents, but storytellers. Every design begins with a concept — a mood, a palette, a feeling — shaped the way a couture gown is tailored: with care for proportion, tone, and emotion.
My guiding philosophy is that luxury should feel personal. Every Fleurs De Sophia design is crafted to reflect emotion and meaning — not just aesthetics. I want my clients to feel seen, understood, and inspired when they experience their flowers, whether it’s an intimate celebration or a grand event.
I’m most proud of the moments when clients pause — when they see their florals and recognize a reflection of themselves or the emotion they hoped to express. That quiet connection is what defines Fleurs De Sophia and the reason I do what I do.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are a few people who have played a meaningful role in the Fleurs De Sophia journey, each in their own way.
Creatively, I’ve always admired Jeff Leatham — his installations are truly works of art. The way he uses flowers to shape emotion and atmosphere is endlessly inspiring to me, and his ability to create beauty on such a scale reminds me how powerful floral design can be when approached with vision and intention.
My greatest mentor has been my husband. With his background in business development and marketing, he’s been my guide and constant supporter. It was his encouragement during the pandemic that inspired me to use that time strategically — to plan, design, and bring Fleurs De Sophia to life. His insight, calm perspective, and faith in the brand helped me take those first steps with confidence.
And I’m especially grateful to my sister, who gave me the first real connection that started my professional floral journey. She introduced me to the florist at the business she worked for — and that moment opened the door to everything that followed.
Each of them shaped Fleurs De Sophia in their own way — creativity, wisdom, and love all intertwined — and I carry that inspiration into every design I create.
