Story & Lesson Highlights with Jillian Lapedus of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Jillian Lapedus and have shared our conversation below.

Jillian, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building trust — the kind that allows people to feel truly cared for, inspired, and at ease. In my work with The Guru Experience and TALLU & Co., so much of what I do lives behind the scenes — creating a sense of calm, anticipating needs before they arise, and weaving warmth into every interaction. People often see the final experience — the beauty, the flow, the joy — but what they don’t see is the care, intuition, and emotional intelligence that make it all feel effortless. What fulfills me most is creating moments that make people feel happy, seen, and connected — that’s the invisible work I’m proudest of.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jillian Lapedus — a creative strategist and experience leader with a deep passion for people, connection, and storytelling. My background is rooted in hospitality, where I learned the true art of care, attention to detail, and creating moments that make people feel seen and valued. That foundation has guided everything I’ve done since — from leading global events to building meaningful partnerships and brand experiences.
I also have a long history in fundraising and philanthropy, which has shaped my belief in the power of community and giving back. Whether it’s designing an event, curating a collaboration, or developing a wellness-inspired moment through TALLU & Co., I love bringing together the right people for the right project — creating experiences that inspire, connect, and do good in the world.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that being strong meant doing everything on my own — that I had to have all the answers and make everything perfect. Over time, I’ve learned that real strength comes from connection — from trusting others, collaborating, and allowing space for authenticity instead of perfection. The most meaningful experiences I’ve created in my career have come from partnership, emotion, and presence. I no longer believe I need to carry it all alone — I believe in the beauty of building together, with heart and intention.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me empathy in a way success never could. It showed me the power of slowing down, truly listening, and meeting people where they are. Success can celebrate outcomes, but challenge reminds you what really matters — kindness, connection, and purpose.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m deeply committed to creating experiences and opportunities that genuinely connect people — whether that’s through a thoughtfully designed event, a wellness moment, or bringing together the right people for the right project. I believe that meaningful connection has the power to transform work, community, and lives, and I’m committed to nurturing it no matter how long it takes. It’s not about speed or immediate results — it’s about the lasting impact and the joy that comes from creating something that truly matters for others.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m deeply connected to nature — whether it’s forest bathing, taking a long hike through the hills, kayaking on calm waters, or being near the ocean. These moments allow me to slow down, reflect, and recharge. They remind me of the beauty in simplicity and the power of presence — and it’s in these quiet, immersive experiences that I often find the clarity and inspiration I bring to my work and the people around me
