As a child, I believed my worth was something to be earned—or given—by others. Growing up in the ’80s, emotional nurturing wasn’t always present, and that absence quietly shaped how I saw myself. As an adult, I’ve unlearned that belief. I now know my worth is inherent, strengthened by hard work, vision, and the courage to take action. I no longer look outward for validation. Everything I need to know about my worth, I already carry within me

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her this: you are worthy, powerful, and strong—more than you know. You are confident and beautiful, even on the days you doubt it. And don’t let what life withholds harden you. Let it refine you, not make you bitter or jaded.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the beauty industry tells itself is that aging should be feared. We’re taught to chase youth instead of honoring evolution. The truth is, aging can be powerful, beautiful, and deeply confident. You don’t have to erase yourself to feel radiant—great skin, great results, and great confidence are possible without surgery, fillers, or fear.

I hope people say I stood for women of color, for justice, and for beauty without an expiration date. That I helped redefine confidence at every age while creating space for inclusivity and truth. And that the woman I became was shaped not just by success, but by deep healing, resilience, and the courage to do the inner work.
