We recently had the chance to connect with Jane Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Jane, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I was an exhibitor for L.A Comic Con for the first time ever. And as a minority in the horror field of pop culture was so much fun!!!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jane, and I run and manage the Scream Queen Club. I carry a series of horror merchandise. I hand make candles and horror-based sanitizer sprays. I am also known for having the one and only Billy Loomis AKA Skeet Ulrich wear my small business hat around several conventions and around the world. I also focus on several horror icons and create my merchandise from the iconic horror movies.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
Both my mom & dad. Till this day they have yet to stop working. As individuals they never give up on my dreams and all the insane ideas I throw at them that create my plans for the future. They continue to give me motivation and inspiration to keep doing what I continue to do. They truly are believers in whatever is impossible, can always be possible

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. When I thought about rebranding from Jane’s Earful Creations to a new brand, Many of my friends within the horror community didn’t want me to stop. They believed I was talented and should keep going. Customers that became friends also wanted me to continue and shared positive words to convince me to continue, which I appreciate. I wouldn’t be here without that push

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family and well-being come first. No matter how amazing and hard some of these events are, they can also drain you physically and mentally. But you also have to make a stop and never forget to focus on the closest ones to you. Never get carried away for too long. Enjoy it in the moment off course. But it is always great to reenergize and refocus

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
No, I like to break barriers even for myself. If I want something I aim to fight and get it. I wasn’t here to be a cliche, I was here to be me, and I like to stand out and do my own thing. I don’t like to be molded into something I’m not and I will always have my way and be me no matter what
