Rising Stars: Meet Zanetta Wade of San Pedro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zanetta Wade.

Zanetta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started creating waist beads in 2012, when I was hosting Womb Circles centered around self-love, empowerment, sacred sexuality, and holistic wellness. Waist beads became an extension of that work, a sacred offering for women to reconnect with themselves and be reminded of their power. I had purchased my first set the year before and immediately felt their energy. I was drawn to their healing properties, cultural significance, and the spiritual connection they possess. I realized they were more than just something cute to wear, they were ancient tools of remembrance, intention, and transformation.

Through utilizing waist beads, I began healing my womb: releasing depression, rebuilding confidence, and attracting more love and joy into my life. Each strand was created to support me and to serve as a gentle reminder of the intentions I set for myself. What began as my personal healing journey, blossomed into a mission to assist other women to embrace their bodies and their divine feminine power through this ancient tradition of sacred adornment.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’m grateful for every challenge along the way. Each obstacle has strengthened me and better prepared me for what’s to come. One of my greatest struggles was learning to get out of my own way and find balance between being an entrepreneur with tending to my self-care. There were seasons when I felt burnt out, uninspired, and weighed down due to depression, yet I still had to create, hold space for clients, and maintain a presence online. It was trying, but those moments taught me some powerful life lessons.

I learned how necessary it is to have compassion for myself. Slowing down and honoring my needs allowed me to reconnect with my purpose on a deeper level. I also learned the importance of giving myself grace and that rest is also productive, and I can still honor my purpose even in my stillness. In fact, I’m able to be of greater service when I pour more deeply into myself by prioritising my self-care practices.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Waist Beads Priestess and Womb Wellness Practitioner, specializing in creating customized waist beads for women on their healing journey. For over 13 years, I’ve been cultivating this sacred practice of weaving intention, whispered prayers, and ancestral wisdom into adornments that honor both body and spirit. It’s been such a blessing to share this ancient medicine with women all around the world.

I’m most proud of being able to hold space for women to love themselves right where they are and to remember their power, beauty, and divine essence. Each strand I create is an honoring of the woman they are lovingly releasing, celebrating the woman that they are, and affirming the woman they are becoming.

What sets my work apart is my deep reverence for the cultural and spiritual roots of this ancient African tradition. My process begins with a personal consultation to align colors and crystals with the woman’s intentions. While waist beads have become trendy, my practice keeps their sacred purpose alive. Many women wear them to enhance their beauty or to track their weight loss journey, but this is a sacred adornment practice that means so much more than what the eyes can see. Waist Beads represent the intentions you set for yourself, the prayers you hold in your heart, and the divine connection you have with your ancestors.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My spiritual Mother, Queen Afua, has been an amazing inspiration to me. I’ve had the honor of working with her and learning from her for the past 9 years. We first met when I reached out to do a retreat with her, and then I took her Sacred Woman Rites of Passage course. This enhanced my spiritual elevation allowing me to align with my tribe and ignite my transformation and intentional rebirth. It was a life-changing experience that catapulted my life’s work into my divine practice of Womb Alchemy through the use of Waist Beads.

My Sacred Sister Empress Angelique has also played an impactful role in my healing journey. She is a prime example of sisterhood and how your sisters will see your light and remind you of your power, even when you don’t see it in yourself. Back in 2020 when I was mourning the loss of my father and feeling very disconnected, she brought me back to life by inviting me to adorn guests with Waist Beads at her Goddess Circles. Reconnecting with my tribe was everything I needed at the time. It reaffirmed who I am and how necessary my sacred practice is.
