Today we’d like to introduce you to X
Hi X, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It wasn’t always in the cards for me to be in music technically. But I kinda always knew being a creative was. Always was curious, open minded you know. Didn’t have it, still don’t have it all figured out but… taking it day by day, step by step. I didn’t know which route i’d take but it wasn’t until covid-19, that gave me to space to find out my other interests.
I was playing basketball since 3 years old, with my dad out on the hardwood. Up until 18 when 2020 arrived I had the opportunity to play college. Basketball didn’t satisfy my drive nor my passion. That’s when I first got into fashion.
Did that for about 2 years & then music came around really because certain individuals. It became a different outlet for my creativity & expression. Experiencing hardships at a young age also shaped my mindset for a craft to be taken seriously.
Unfortunately I lost my dad this year & he was & is the reason I think how I do. My drive, my work ethic, my hunger. It stems through him and will continue to be on display as my story plays out. At heart I’m a momma’s boy, the reason who I am & why I am. Raising me as a single mom isn’t easy and we’ve been through the toughest of times. Both of us understood & pushed through adversity, she’s my rock. Music will be my way into the door, but I want to reach out to all kinds of ways to create impact. I got a long way to go, but patience alongside with belief will take me further.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road. For the things that’s worth while you gots to bump your head, sometimes more than once. I dealt with being put out the house when I had nothing at all. No money, no advice, nothing. But when you’re at your lowest the only way is up. I haven’t made it yet so I haven’t endured many struggles in terms of the industry of music just yet. Missing exposure when creating music that you feel is timeless I guess is… frustrating. But it all comes in time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is something that for one, doesn’t feel like “work”. It’s became a craft that overtime i’ve grown a love and desire for simply getting better. Getting reps in, getting consistent with practice, with failing, with trying.
Currently me and my producer PxP are getting ready to release a project called “Manifesto”. It’ll be a solid representation of my artistry and the new sound we’re branching into. We’re excited for the world to hear.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’m lucky to have the parents I’ve had and the teachings they’ve taught me. Other than that, not really much luck… I mean unless you call “manifesting” luck. Which it isn’t at all in my opinion. I’ve worked & will continue to work extremely hard. The rest will happen on it’s own naturally & organically. Results will show in time. It’s truly believing in yourself and seeing through, the script you wrote down. Stay you & staying level headed through all.
