Today we’d like to introduce you to Viktoria Tabak.
Hi Viktoria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up loving to cook and entertain. My Grandmother was instrumental in this, teaching me from a young age that we feed the people we love and that the best family memories are created around the dinner table. I attended culinary school in Florence, Italy shortly after high school, then followed up my education under a French chef in Laguna Beach. After working in restaurant settings, I really found myself craving guest contact because the hospitality side of the business is something I have a huge passion for. I started full-service catering and private chef work around 2011 and fell in love with it. Working with my customers to put together menus for their special events and even custom meals for their day-to-day lives still gives me the opportunity to cook but also the option to talk about my food and watch everyone indulge! I love to share my passion with my guests.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Relocating from Orange County to Valencia in 2013 was a challenge. I had a wonderful clientele down South, and I then was forced to adapt to a new demographic and build up a customer base from scratch. The pandemic then put on an unprecedented challenge on the catering and restaurant business as a whole. It was a very difficult time, not being able to share in my customer’s special events and being forced into solely food drop-offs. Finally, the catering world has slowly returned to normal, and we can now share in the joy of food and celebration together again.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in full-service catering, complete with menu planning and coordination of food, service, and bartending staff. I also do private chef work for individuals and families, able to design menus to my client’s liking and dietary needs. My passion is rooted in that of the Mediterranean diet and farm-to-table cooking due to my Italian education, and I also love making Russian food because my Grandmother raised me making special dishes that honor our culture.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
All clients can reach me by email at ContactVLTCatering@gmail.com or by phone at (714)-865-7073. I like to start our process by learning about the vision for the event, what kind of staff will be needed, and all food likes, dislikes, and allergies. I then work on a prospective menu and edit it with my clients to perfection.
