Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Scott
Tyler, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began with a passion for movies and the art of filmmaking. I’ve always been fascinated by the craft, the way stories move people, and by psychology in general. To be able to capture a moment of human emotion that connects with an audience is something that has always intrigued me. It wasn’t until about a year ago that I seriously considered acting as a career. It’s always felt like a pipe dream, but I knew deep down that I felt as though I belonged in the industry.
I started auditioning, and as I applied myself more, I realized that this could be a real career path for me. So, I took the leap and made the decision to move to LA, throwing myself right into the heart of the entertainment industry. This move was a way to step out of my comfort zone and truly chase what some might call the impossible dream.
The journey so far has been challenging, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with some incredible people and work on projects that I’m genuinely passionate about.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced a lot of rejection, with countless auditions and self-tapes that never led to a callback. Beyond the professional challenges, I’ve also had to overcome a lot of anxiety and feelings of imposter syndrome. These mental struggles have been a significant part of the journey, but I’m grateful for them because they’ve taught me a lot and have been an essential part of my growth, both personally and professionally. I hope to inspire others to chase what makes them happy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Film has always been my favorite medium for art and storytelling, whether I’m in front of the camera or behind it. While I love acting, I also specialize in cinematography and post-production. I’m passionate about all aspects of the industry and have always prided myself on wearing multiple hats at once. I’m particularly proud of the work I’ve done with the incredible people I’ve met along this journey who have supported me in every step of the way. My brother and I have also started a production company, Funner Studios, which we are looking to expand even further as a vehicle for storytelling.
The ultimate goal is to create and be a part of original works that not only entertain, but also have powerful social impact that resonate with audiences on deeper levels.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was the move to LA. I always knew I wanted to be closer to the action, but I didn’t really know anyone in the city and it felt intimidating. Nonetheless, I knew it would be an important step in my journey and it’s the first time I’ve really done something on my own terms. I felt that this is where I had to be if I really wanted to pursue a career in the industry. If you stop challenging yourself and settle into a life of comfort, you lose opportunity for real growth. Taking risks and constantly pushing yourself is essential to achieving your goals and is the hallmark of progress. I truly believe that anything is possible if you’re willing to do the hard work, make those difficult decisions, and put yourself out there.
