Rising Stars: Meet Souloni of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Souloni

Souloni, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Neo Soul singer-songwriter based out of West Los Angeles, California. I started singing at 12 years old in church. My influences are Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Common, J Dilla, and Musiq Soulchild. The list goes on. Throughout those years leading up until I was 20 years old, I was studying the art of music, finding my niche, writing poetry, and eventually turning them into lyrics. At 20 years old, I officially started songwriting and recording music. I first started recording in North Hollywood with my engineer, Chris Davis, back in 2019, whom I still record with now in Atlanta, Georgia. I had my big break in 2023 with my first radio appearance on Sirius XM Sway in The Morning Show with my song, “Your Soul,” which led me to where I am now. I am very grateful because since my appearance in 2023, it has opened many doors for me. I have performed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Peppermint Club. I have 400,000 combined career streams and over 209 playlists. I have also met one of my favorite rappers, Common. This year, 2025, is a really big year for me. I am releasing new music. I have a song called “With You” that will be out on March 12th, and I am also working on my very first album that will be out in 2026.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth ride. There have been times when I’ve experienced writer’s block or felt uninspired to write for months throughout the years. There was a time when I nearly gave up months before I ended up on Sway. Through the grace of God, he heard my prayers, and as I was going through my breakthrough, I realized there’s a reason why I was blessed with a voice and beautiful music to share with the world. I thank my family, friends, and especially my mother for imparting knowledge and wisdom as I work in this field.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create Neo Soul music. I use the art of my voice to create smooth and sultry vibes. Which is what I’m known for. Mainly love and inspirational music that people of all ages that can connect to. I’m most proud of my work ethic. My fearless mindset. My eagerness to succeed. What sets me apart from others is just staying true to myself. Remaining authentic and being as beautiful inside and out as much as I can be.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the 5-10 years I see myself with a Grammy! One of the best new Neo soul artists out. I see myself working and creating beautiful music with artists that I look up to now. I’m not against being signed so I definitely see myself being signed to a label.
