Rising Stars: Meet Siobhan Schneidman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Siobhan Schneidman.

Siobhan Schneidman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got my start in the restaurant industry when I was sixteen. The first job I got was at a little cafe called “Cafe with Love” in the town I grew up in, Saugerties, NY. We served high-quality Dutch cafe food that was fresh and refined. That job began my two-decade-long relationship with the restaurant industry. Over the years, I’ve taken “breaks” from the industry. However, work that is centered around food has consistently kept me engaged and inspired.

I recently left my job as HR coordinator to get back into hospitality and food. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my life as an Event Coordinator with Served LA. While I work on launching my own business in the next couple years.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Over the years, I’ve taken several breaks from the hospitality industry. I’ve worked as a Nanny, Graphic Designer, and recently, I spent 2023 working as an HR Coordinator. In 2020, along with the rest of the restaurant industry, I was laid off. Right as things were beginning to pick back up and with three interviews on the horizon, I broke my foot. I’m now looking forward to what 2024 has in store.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always been a creator. That is something that I am proud of and passionate about. All my life, my favorite things to do have been using my hands to create. Whether that’s painting, sewing, gardening, or cooking. There is something so satisfying about making something from scratch. These days, my creativity is poured into the kitchen. I love bringing an idea to life through experimentation.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was loud, bossy, and a dreamer. My family has always remarked how “in my own world” I was. I think that is still true to this day. I have big dreams and fantasies that I hope to bring to fruition someday.
