Today we’d like to introduce you to Shade’ Elliott.
Hi Shade’, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a love for fashion and style. It all began with me loving to thrift and create something out of nothing. My grandma is a seamstress and I would always remember watching her create and going with her to the fabric store and thrifting. I created a clothing brand a few years ago, Vintage Apparel @vintageapparel96. My brand began from creating sustainable clothing out of materials and fabrics that may not usually go together. Upcyling, sustainability and reconstruction are the main focuses of what I do when I create.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever perfect but I have been enjoying the journey so far. I love everything that comes with it, the good and the bad. I have learned a lot.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for upcycling and sewing and styling. I am a self-taught fashion designer and stylist. I am most proud of my work with YSL, and my fashion show I had in Richmond, VA outdoors in the middle of downtown. I believe I’m set apart from others by the way my style is and the way I create outfits from nothing.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I would love to give credit to YSL, HiDoraah, Young Thug, Roundtwo, and Sean Weatherspoon.
