Rising Stars: Meet Sandy & Dana Hursey (brother & Sister) of Pasadena – The Paseo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy & Dana Hursey (brother & Sister).

Hi Sandy & Dana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
This started as a search to do something to bring joy back to the community. We fell in love with the franchise and creativity involved for us to spread. It all started in March 2024 and we finally opened our doors October 11, 2025! We are just brother and sister owners who decided to collaborate on something fun, cheerful and bring art back one person at a time. We have local artisan’s that show their work on consignment and create a diverse, colorful place. Dana comes from a professional photography background and I come from a real estate background. This endeavor takes us back to our joy of being with others and sharing in their excitement. Just a little piece of cheer!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This road has not been a smooth one! Learning the franchise, finding the location, tenant improvements and permitting…………….. and then the fires! 19 months later here we are!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Pasadena studio is more than just a place to create – it’s a community hub where people of all ages and skill levels can relax, express themselves and leave with a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Whether it’s a date night, girls/guys night out, family outing, a team-building event, or a much needed self-care day, Hawaii Fluid Art offers a unique blend of therapeutic fun and artistic exploration.

We also have gorgeous art adorning the walls created by local artisans. Jewelry, candles, cards to personalize and many more great things in our retail area.

The experiential area is filled with colorful paints, canvas’, resin tumbler creations, “Patch Party” for personalizing your own hats and denim jackets…..or you can go completely wild in our splatter room. You can paint and have us resin your own charcuterie board with wine glasses and coasters to match or create a beautiful beach scene for that special part of your home or office.

Creating this space is what we are very proud of. And the people feel it when they walk in the door!

What matters most to you?
Creating a place for people, old and young, can come and create, have fun, make the escape from the doldrums. Get away from their phones and computers. Team build with fun. Celebrate special occasions. Get children involved in hands on art experiences. We need to make that old fun, new again!
