Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruoyun Dai.
Hi Ruoyun, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ruoyun Dai, and I’m the director of 2rt Studio. I started my practice at the intersection of art, technology, and emotional storytelling, and over time it naturally evolved into a studio that bridges digital and physical worlds.
2rt Studio now operates as a hybrid gallery and creative tech practice, specializing in lenticular and mixed-reality artworks. We collaborate with artists through B2B lenticular production services, helping them transform digital concepts into exhibition-ready physical pieces. Our work has been featured at major art fairs, and we’re excited to exhibit at the LA Art Show 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center West Hall, January 7–11.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Working with lenticular printing is an unusually challenging medium because it’s nearly impossible to accurately preview a piece before it’s physically produced. Subtle factors such as color shifts, motion amplitude, parallax depth, and viewing angles all dramatically affect the final result.
Every prototype requires countless adjustments, test prints, and recalibrations. The process is time-consuming and often unpredictable, but it has also pushed me to develop a clearer methodology, document patterns, and refine a repeatable workflow. Over time, these iterations have become the foundation that now allows 2rt Studio to produce consistently high-quality lenticular work for both our own projects and our B2B collaborators.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create tech driven artworks that merge code with physical prints. One of my signature pieces is “Shimmering NYC,” a JavaScript based lenticular animation shown at Art on Paper, where the colored light particles shimmer as viewers move. It drew strong interest from both visitors and collectors.
I am now developing a new “Shimmering LA” series and building the underlying code into a customizable product that lets users upload their own photos to generate the same shimmering effect. This will grow into a small SaaS platform, turning 2rt.studio from a B2B lenticular collaborator into a bridge that connects galleries and everyday users on the B2C side.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
2rt.studio is entering an exciting phase, expanding from lenticular production into interactive tech and customized visual experiences. I am looking forward to sharing more projects and inviting audiences to participate in what we create next.
