Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Beem
Hi Ron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ron Beem from Ventura, CA. Born in Van Nuys and after years of traveling with my mom around the country from 1997 – 2003, I eventually ended up semi-homeless in Hollywood with my Dad in 2003, graduated from Hollywood High School in 2005 and immediately got into the Warped Tour era/LA music scene. I went into discovery mode with singing/playing guitar for different pop and post-hardcore bands leading to start of pop rock band The Gatsby Affair. We’re heavily influenced by bands like Goo Goo Dolls, Acceptance, Boys Like Girls, Jimmy Eat World and Third Eye Blind, with amazing opportunities to have performed at the Temecula Balloon & Wine festival 2017 (Bush, Gin Blossoms, Tonic) 4 years of Stagecoach cover band jams at Lake Eldorado and headlining the Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) Memorial Concert at Grand Park Los Angeles July 2018. I’m currently working on a nostalgic mall punk project called “ENAMORED” with long time buddy Eros. Marcello and plan on releasing material in summer 2025. The Gatsby Affair is also currently finishing a large catalog of super uplifting nostalgic 2000’s pop rock with hints of pop country and new wave. Stay tuned!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a dream and a nightmare all at once for a long time. The highs and lows are a very real thing. I grew up in a heavily religious broken home in Bakersfield, CA where I ended up homeless with my dad in Venice Beach from 1992 – 1997 and then traveled endlessly around the country with Mom who was suffering from serious mental health but my strong desire for a life in music led me to my journey in LA where the rigorous party life of drugs and alcohol became a serious downfall for me over the years. I’m currently in recovery and so grateful to be 4 months sober and in the program. I can’t guarantee what the future will bring but I live of life of gratitude and so blessed to have a God-given gift and passion for creating.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve worked in stage production and events for 20 years but currently working in sales for a hair restoration company in West LA, CA.
I’m so beyond grateful to have had the opportunity work such timeless events and concerts/festivals over the years, to do things and meet people that most can only dream about.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’d like to remain anonymous with the majority of who I’m referencing but I’d definitely like to thank all the people I’ve met along the way and went out of their way to put a roof over my head, to get me work, to help me with money, to get me studio time, to get me on incredible shows, to help me get work in fields of highly sought production work and most importantly my Dad. He’s literally my hero, a father who left and came back, who’s made his wrongs right, who’s shown and taught me that an appreciation for music and life will, with a certainty, keep you going strong.
