Rising Stars: Meet Restless Marc of Carson, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Restless Marc

Hi Restless, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born into a musically inclined family. My grandfather and my dad are both producers and musicians, and my mother had background in singing and acting. I feel like they all played a part into shaping who I am as an entertainer and artist.

I knew I wanted to become a rapper when I was 13. I went with my dad to his friend’s house, and they played some beats to each other on the speakers. I heard one that I thought sounded really good, and I told them I could write a hot 16 to it. They told me to write while they made a 7/11 run, and they were blown away with what I came up with. When I saw their reactions, I knew my future was in music.

From there, I participated in lots of entertainment related school activities like choir, acting, sports, even performing my songs for the whole school. I dropped my first song Watchu Heard on streaming platforms in 2022, and followed up with Pay Up a couple months later. After that, my laptop with all my files and songs on it got stolen right out of my car. I didn’t make music for a few months afterwards, but I came back with Really Like That on the first day of 2024 and Infinity 2 on March 25th. And here we are.

I’ve lost a lot of people on the way to where I am now and have been through things that derail careers, but I am now in a better position that I have ever been. I can’t wait to work on more music and perform for the people that vibe with it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Compared to most, maybe it has been, but I’ve had my own struggles on the way. I’ve lost my entire musical catalog due to my laptop getting stolen. I’ve lost a few of my people that I recorded with while coming up, countless family members that I consider essential to my development, and that doesn’t even cover half of it. I’ll get into more of my struggles a little later.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
From taking my own photos, making my own beats, writing my own lyrics, mixing and mastering my own songs, I do my own everything. I specialize in everything music and aesthetic related, and I’m known for having my fingers on everything that I attach my name to.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I recently took a management deal with Indie Roadmap, so they’ve been helping me get more organized when it comes to booking and marketing. My guy Khali is also someone I work very closely with on my photos and anything aesthetic related. @sauzy.jpg
