Rasec Marc Ortega

Hi Rasec Marc, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I remember being in college for a course I never cared about. That season of my life was the epiphany of what autopilot was like. Nothing to fight for, nothing to push myself for. I was aimlessly floating down the river waiting for life to happen to me. Until I saw my very first concert. When the singer of OneRepublic did a piano solo at the Hollywood Bowl, his talent and skill made me reflect upon all the decisions I’ve made up to that point in life. I have realized I’ve never taken full control of my life, I have never taken full ownership of my decisions. And it led me to a life full of resentment and bitterness. I knew then I had to do something or I will end up dying as if I’ve never lived.

The very next day, I dropped out of college with no plan and no fallback. The rest of the years I have spent until now is the culmination of what purpose feels like to me. I have been living my life with a blazing fire that makes me look forward to every single day. Now, I live off of music full-time providing my talents and skills to people in the music and film industry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has never been a smooth road. But the rough road I had to go through was the very road that shaped my character along the way.

One of the biggest struggles I had to go through was acknowledging my own self-inflicting negative messaging. I would drown myself in doubts and timidness when presented with a challenge. This habit formed when I was growing up being fed this message until I inherently carried it all the way to my early 20s. At that point, there would be no one else to blame but me. So it took me years and years of fixing my own default thoughts and mindset until I became someone who could stand as tall as anyone who is proud of themselves.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a music producer and film composer. People come to me when they want a song for them to release and perform with. And also for people who need the scenes in their film to be enhanced emotionally through music. I am proud of all the artists who shined ever so brightly up on stage when they performed the song that I whole-heartedly produced.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me the most is spreading the message of self-reconciliation.

Many times, we would be faced with criticism and judgment. But what we do not know is that we subconsciously take that message and resonate it within ourselves when we are left alone. At this point, we will end up becoming our own biggest obstacle. We would end up drowning ourselves in doubt and timidness and it would all stem from the comments that other people gave us.

I believe that being kind to one’s self despite the comments of other people would render us unshakable.
