Rising Stars: Meet Raquel Jimenez of Montebello

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Jimenez

RAQUEL, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After immigrating from Mexico City I worked with a mentor and gained invaluable hands-on-experience in the garment industry. I started my own business as a freelance pattern maker/technical designer. In 2015 I opened a garment manufacturing business which brings entrepreneurs ideas to life. I truly understand the clients concepts in the prototype process.. in 2019 I created my own lime called PINCHES TEES.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It had been both ways. The smooth road reflects the experience and wanting to do things the right way.and is satisfactory knowing that I’m delivering a good product. The struggles I had faced are when some customers take advantage and take the final product without paying and disappear from me, and/or when they don’t let me do what is right for their brand technically speaking.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in understanding my clients design ideas and bring them to life, I get a lot of compliments about it. I create patterns from scratch following measurements and ideas. I also do freehand sketching and make sure I input the most detail possible in order to get an accurate prototype. I
I’m learned pattern making by myself when I was a teenager then i perfected my technique with the help of my mentor since I didn’t have the opportunity to attend a fashion school.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I learned that being consistent and persistent everything is possible. I had fallen many times but I always find a way to get back on track.
