Rising Stars: Meet Pearlie Miller of North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pearlie Miller.

Pearlie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Shea Butter is such a wonderful natural product for the skin that soothes, smooths and heals the skin and when mixing it with fragrance and/or essential oils enriches to a powerful combination that smells fantastic and can aid in healing soreness, pigmentation issues, clear up rashes and even improve moods with it’s aroma satisfying effects.

The Skin Butter Store specializes in natural and organic body care as well as high-end fragrance oils that smell like designer fragrances but without the high price tag and usually without a drop alcohol.

We started out at Farmer’s markets and pop-up markets across Los Angeles County and finally saved up enough to open our own physical store. It’s a small beauty boutique with its charms and it’s a place of happiness because walking in smells like heaven.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggle for tiny businesses is always earning enough money to start the business, grow the business and sustain the business while maintaining our own personal bills.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My son and I have put our heart and soul as well as our time and energy into making sure every customer is satisfied with our products so when we manufacture our body butters, you can feel the love and care that goes into every jar. We choose the fragrances, well our ingredients are really chosen by our clients who tell us their favorite scents; some like a sweet smell while others like to smell like flowers or have a favorite designer fragrance they’d like for us to make into a body butter.

Even though shea butter is our most popular body butter, we offer aloe vera, mango, cocoa and kukum butters. Our product line-up includes vegetable based toothpaste as well as natural soaps with healing benefits that maintain health and beauty as well as smelling fabulous.

You can even have us make a custom butter for you!

We are growing out of our small brick & mortar so we hope to one day open a second location, but of course, that, too, cost money.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We started out offering just 12 fragranced body butters and now we offer more than 300, so keeping up with the many types of fabulous fragrances for men and women has been exciting and fun.

Our menu of men fragrances is nearly the same as the number of women fragranced body butters we offer and if body butters are not your thing, we offer fragrance oils for a fraction of the cost of the high-end designer fragrances.

Naming our fragrances has been so much fun, for example Gucci Guilty we call Boo’ge Silky, Chanel’s Mademoiselle is called Go Madam Go, Egyptian Musk is called Magician’s Dust, and our favorite is Jasmine we call it Jazz Man. So visiting our website is fun and clever.

• Louie Vutton’s Imagination can cost $300-400 but our IMAGINE ME/IMAGINE A NATION cost $45 and we get great skin care too
