Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Gorlushko
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I came to California in 2021, and then I received a visa as an outstanding makeup artist and body painting artist. Over these three years, many interesting events and significant meetings have taken place! I was fortunate to work with various teams, and creative individuals who inspired me to create vibrant and innovative looks. These included talented photographers like Rory Lewis and Rico Mejia, outstanding stylists like Jacob Mier, and models of extraordinary beauty. Together, we were able to bring creative collections to life. My participation in the creative project of British photographer Rory Lewis was particularly exciting, where I did the makeup for the charismatic actor Steven Ogg, star of shows like Snowpiercer and The Walking Dead. Also I am very proud of my participation in the project as a body painting artist and UV color specialist. I was thrilled to be part of Michael Masucci and Alina Kalinouskaya’s project “TRANSPARENCY ALLEY” as a body painting artist and UV color specialist. The project was showcased at the DNA Festival in Santa Monica, as well as at “PRIMARILY IN THE RIGHT HEMISPHERE” at the LOIS LAMBERT GALLERY, supported by PST ART, ART & SCIENCE COLLIDE Presented by GETTY, and also at Bergamot Station Art Center. My future plan is preparing my UV color project “Living Neon,” which will feature my art mannequin, UV color paintings, and neon body painting .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course it was not smooth road ,I was along here ,my family was in Russia still. But I am really glad that I’ve met in USA amazing and creative people ,it was my point of support,My creative work, new projects always was my anchor.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a makeup and body painting artist, educator, and permanent makeup master. I initially studied at a Medical University and became a dermatologist many years ago in my homeland of Siberia. I have about 25 years of experience in the beauty industry. In Moscow, I founded my own Makeup & Body Painting School. I have worked on numerous projects with well-known brands such as Wella, L’Oréal, Makeup Atelier, and Beni Durrer. Additionally, I was the Head of the makeup team at Paris Fashion Week in 2020. It has been a long and fascinating journey full of creativity and hard work. I have conducted makeup and body painting workshops in many countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, South Korea, and more. From 2010 to 2018, I was the owner and organizer of the International Stylists Congress in Greece, and I plan to relaunch it as part of my future projects.
What are your plans for the future?
I have many plans! One of my favorites, and first on my list, is “Living Neon,” where I will organize my exhibition and performance. I want to show people how multifaceted art is and the unique impressions that the fluorescent style creates in painting, makeup, and body art. Of course, I also want to reunite with my ISC team and restart it. I deeply miss my career as an educator, and I hope to return to my mission: teaching people to see the beauty in the world around them and within themselves!
