Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda OHare.
Hi Miranda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started acting as a kid, actually mostly because I was a terrible dancer. I wanted to perform but I had no coordination so my dance coach told my mum I should be in acting classes because she said I was very theatrical! I joined an acting school and just loved it so much and have been acting ever since. After acting professionally in tv and commercials in Australia, I decided to make the big move to LA and have been here since. It’s been a fun, challenging and interesting journey.
In 2019, I fell into voice acting after having an agency meeting where they asked me if I had ever considered it so I auditioned for the VO department and started doing voice-overs. I work mostly in video games and that’s opened up a whole world for me. Now I act, do voiceovers and make my own content on social media.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think you would be hard-pressed to find any person living in a big city pursuing a big dream, especially in the arts that could say they have had an easy road! It’s been very challenging and it can be exhausting, largely the grind of auditioning and trying to continue putting out your best work as an artist alongside deadlines and the normal challenges of life. Especially in a business like the entertainment industry with such a huge amount of rejection. It takes a lot of resilience and perhaps therapy! I think you just really have to believe in yourself and love it a lot to keep going. Community is also really important.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor, I do voiceovers and I make social media content. Weirdly I’m probably best known for voicing some video game characters in some well-known games. As a person and a creative, I am most proud of my family, my friendships and my resilience. I think what sets me apart is my authenticity and my curiosity in people and the world around us.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I just started a podcast called Blood, Sweat and Games alongside games developer and content creator Morgan Ling. It’s released early Feb. Our podcast is Call her Daddy meets What’s Good Games for the gaming community. I think it’s important that we have more female and diverse voices across all fields, especially gaming which has been historically a male-dominated space.
