Today we’d like to introduce you to Mihaela Holtz.
Hi Mihaela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Romania, where my childhood was filled not only with play but also with writing poems, recording my dreams, and losing myself in psychology books and artists’ biographies. Even then, I sensed that our inner world and creativity were inseparably linked. That passion eventually carried me across continents to Los Angeles, where I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology and trained in psychoanalytic therapy, the science of relationships and psychotherapy, and trauma-focused therapies, including EMDR. Over time, I created my Creative Emotional Space™ framework, designed especially for artists, performers, entrepreneurs, and other creative minds.
Today, through my practice, Creative Minds Psychotherapy™, I help people heal trauma and emotional blocks so they can reconnect with their authenticity, emotional freedom, and creativity. For me, it has come full circle: what began as childhood passions has become my life’s purpose – helping people transform struggles into creative power and meaningful lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth. Moving to Los Angeles meant starting from scratch – new language, new culture, new city, new life – and no built-in support system. There were many challenges along the way, from uncertainty about the future to the ups and downs of creating a new life and building my practice. But my passions pulled me forward, like a force that wouldn’t let me get stuck. Those struggles shaped me; they gave me resilience, empathy, and a deeper understanding of what my clients experience when they face their own creative and personal challenges.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is about helping creatives heal the emotional conflicts or trauma that dim their voice and life energy. Through my Creative Emotional Space™ framework – which weaves together psychology, the science of relationships, and EMDR – I guide people back to their authentic core, where healing and creativity meet. What sets me apart is the way I combine depth with practical tools to create meaningful change. What fulfills me most is witnessing someone step into their power, creating both art and lives that feel alive and true.
Alongside my work as a therapist, I often turn to poetry. One piece that feels especially close to my mission is this:
You, the Artist,
Speak the language of the heart.
You voice the unspoken,
Touch the untouchable,
Awaken hearts, transform minds,
And imprint the world.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m looking forward to expanding my work beyond the therapy room through writing, speaking, and creating new programs that share my Creative Emotional Space™ framework. My passion is to blend deep healing with practical tools that help creatives transform from the inside out – healing while also moving forward in their art and their lives.
