Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Rosenberg.
Hi Marina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a creative streak—growing up in Russia, I loved sewing and spent hours making hand-stitched toys and experimenting on my grandma’s old Singer sewing machine. After moving to the U.S., I started sewing clothes for myself and even made my own prom dress and a Victorian-era gown as a Halloween costume. I’ve also always loved drawing and painting, so creativity has just been a part of who I am.
A few years ago, I got my first Cricut and started making things for my kids—shirts, cards, birthday decorations. Then friends began asking for custom pieces, and soon my kids’ school got me involved in classroom projects and signage. In 2025, I decided to officially launch Mojo Plume Designs, and it’s been so rewarding turning creative ideas into something people can hold onto and love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but it’s been a meaningful one. I work full time, have two kids (Jason (3) and Sammy (5)), and run Mojo Plume Designs in the pockets of time I can find—which means things can get hectic. I’ve had to learn the business side as I go. I’ve tried Google Ads and social media, but, honestly, most of my projects come through word of mouth.
One of the challenges is that I rarely say no to a project—I really try to capture each client’s vision, no matter how detailed. For example, I’m currently working on a wedding where the bride has a very specific style. We’ve had several meetings and lots of back-and-forth to get everything just right. It’s time-consuming, but I genuinely enjoy the process of bringing someone’s vision to life, even if it takes a few extra steps.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create custom designs for all kinds of occasions—everything from personalized shirts and signs to party decor, classroom projects, and wedding materials. Most of my work is one-of-a-kind, which means I spend a lot of time working closely with clients to bring their ideas to life. I think that’s what sets me apart—I truly listen, collaborate, and make sure every piece feels personal and thoughtfully made.
What I’m most proud of is how meaningful the work feels. These aren’t just decorations—they become part of someone’s special moment. I’m always experimenting and adding to my portfolio, whether it’s new materials, techniques, or design styles. It can be time-consuming, but it doesn’t feel like work—I really love what I do, and I think that joy comes through in every project.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is from summer camp in Russia, where I first learned to sew. I was about 10 years old, and we’d cut out patterns by hand, choose our own fabrics and colors, and sew everything by hand. I remember how proud I felt creating something from scratch—how much ownership and joy came from picking out just the right combination of pieces and watching it come together. That’s really where it all started for me. It sparked a love for crafting and creativity that’s stayed with me ever since.
