Rising Stars: Meet Mariana Maror

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariana Maror.

Mariana Maror

Hi Mariana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Sahuayo, Michoacan en Mexico with my parents; when I was 19, my family and I moved out here to Southern California. For a better future, I was happy for a new beginning, but at the same time, I had a fear of leaving part of my family, close friends, and my language behind me. I was entering a new world where I didn’t know the language, and I had culture shock.

I brought with me a suitcase of hopes, a heart full of stories, and the courage to carve my own path. The language was unfamiliar, but my determination to share my narratives knew no bounds.

I always knew I liked school, but when we moved from Mexico to California, I dropped my college career. I never gave up hope in receiving my bachelor’s degree. It was a difficult path, I had very hard moments, but I accomplished my goal. I have my cosmetologist license, I am a Floral Designer, and also my BBA.

I am not just an immigrant woman, writer, and entrepreneur; I am a storyteller who believes in the power of words to build bridges, break barriers. And as I look back, I am so grateful for the strength and beliefs from my parents. They always inspiring me to be a better version of myself.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the significant challenges I faced was the initial adjustment to a new culture and language. However, these challenges fueled my desire to share my unique perspective and connect with others who may have faced similar experiences.

I feel privileged; the hurdles I’ve encountered have been instrumental in shaping my resilience and determination.

While the road has been challenging, it has been a journey of empowerment, growth, and connection.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a poet at heart, weaving emotions and experiences into verses that resonate with my soul. Through my words, I aim to evoke feelings, tell stories, I create a sanctuary where emotions find resonance. Simultaneously, I am an entrepreneur, steering my own creative journey. I have founded in a Floral Designer my little business @poetryinbloom.oc, a venture that merges my love for poetry with my entrepreneurial spirit.

I am known for embodying the strength of resilience, navigating life’s twists and turns with unwavering determination. Through the lens of my poetry, I paint emotions with words, capturing the complexities of love, loss, and the beautiful chaos that unfolds in the aftermath of a divorce. As an entrepreneur, I’ve channeled this resilience into building a business, turning challenges into opportunities, and transforming my journey into a source of inspiration for others.

I am recognized for my ability to infuse creativity into both my artistic expressions and my entrepreneurial endeavors.

I am so proud of the strength I discovered within the echoes of heartbreak, rising from the ashes of a relationship’s end to embrace the beautiful chaos of self-discovery. I take pride in the words I pen, each line a testament to the courage it takes to bare one’s soul.

What sets me apart is not just the titles I carry but the narratives I’ve woven from the threads of my experiences. I am proud of the fusion of vulnerability and strength, of transforming pain into art.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Authenticity is key. Be open about your journey. Don’t hesitate to share your story, including your most hurtful experiences. Authenticity attracts genuine connections, and others may find inspiration in your journey. Don’t be afraid of expressing your feelings.

The opinions of others hold no power over you.

Don’t carry the weight of others’ perceptions.
