Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Evans.
Hi Marcus, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Originally an actor from Chicago, but I’ve lived in LA for quite some time.
A friend of mine, during an improv class, suggested I take a standup comedy class with her. It be been hooked ever since.
From there, I went on to produce my own improv / standup comedy show in West Hollywood and I produce films as well.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing in LA is easy.
LA is so big with so many opportunities and so many ways to achieve your objectives, you just have to narrow things down.
You have to prioritize and move everything forward little by little.
Map, plan and strategize everything!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an actor/comedian/improviser/director/print model/producer/writer.
Lately, I’ve been doing standup comedy in different areas of the country along with producing a clean standup comedy/improv show in West Hollywood.
I’ve produced over 100 clean comedy shows since moving to LA. I didn’t even move here for comedy.
Additionally, I’m writing a tv show and feature film.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. There’s no such thing as that.
I believe in consistent work.
Little by little progress can add up to big things.
Every person must find out what their purpose is and what their gifts and talents are.
Then learn as much as you can about them, network with people that have the same purpose/gifts & talents and then use those things as much as possible. This is how you create an abundant life.
