Rising Stars: Meet Marcos Favela

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Favela.

Hi Marcos, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
So I pretty much have always loved movies growing up. When I was young, I’d repeatedly watch a movie over and over again until I knew the lines. I just wanted to feel like I was in that world at that moment. Eventually in elementary, I did a couple of plays and then in high school I decided to actually try out the drama class then I caught the bug, I decided my Jr. year that I was gonna pursue it. Even though I had no idea how to go about it, I still felt like it was gonna land me somewhere. So I ended becoming best advanced actor in my class Jr. and Sr. year. Then went off to modesto junior college and was taught under the same professor that taught Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye, hurt locker) Mr. Lynch really put the inspiration in me when he told me myself and Jeremy were his best students. I moved out from Modesto at 19yrs old and started doing extra work and then I realized that I gotta put a reel together in order for someone to take me more serious. So I started doing short films; but films that showed how strong I can be as an actor, the range was from comedy, romantic, horror, and action. I thought if I had all these ranges of emotions, I’m sure someone will notice. Fast forward five years later my manager Kerry jones finds me. First thing he says was, “I watched your reel and I think you’re amazing. Can we have a meeting and talk?” He ends up signing me and introduces me to my Agency that I have now who are amazing at what they do. After the first day I sign with them, I get sent off to a Disney audition that I nailed but looked too old for the part. But the second audition I had was for NCIS and I booked that right away which was amazing. At the rate that these people are working to get me out there, I have no doubt in the next 3-5 years you’ll see more of me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it’s never a steady road for success. It’s always up, down, sideways backward that’s how it is… not just in pursuing a dream but in life. The biggest obstacle for me was leaving my family. I’m a family man and that just tore me apart. But sacrifice is necessary to achieve something that you want. It’s also definitely an emotional battle. Constantly you’re asking yourself “God what am I doing … is this the smart thing to do? Am I even gonna land something”. But looking back on it, you always have to keep the faith alive don’t forget you’re not alive just by random luck you are here for a reason. And you are something spectacular, you literally have to ask for it and work for it. That’s the secret.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love being an Actor. I love being able to express myself and convince people that what’s happening is real. I don’t know why I like it but it’s a connection for me, that’s why I can’t give it up. Being able to look at someone and see that they are actually being captivated by my performance is an addicting feeling. As of the things that I’m most proud of …. well there’s a lot that I’m proud of but the number one thing I can say that I’m proud of is following my dreams and having my family watch as I do it. I don’t think I’m crazy special or anything like that. But what sets me apart from others? I believe in myself and I’m willing to sacrifice a lot in order to achieve things.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Patience is definitely a key to happiness. And what I mean by that is… there’s literally no rush to do anything. You are born to simply be alive. Appreciate the time you have and honor your existence and be grateful you are even able to breathe. There’s no race, life happens when it happens. Things will come to you when you are ready for it. That’s for love, success, moving, anything. For example I thought at 19 I was ready to be on tv and all that. Looking back at that now at the age of 25, there’s no way I was ready. Let life happen for you and enjoy the ride. Be patient and trust things will unfold as they go.
