Today we’d like to introduce you to Mara McGinley.
Hi Mara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my business with a dream to start a fashion label prior to entering school for fashion design. I started my business through working on patterns, samples and shooting a couple styles then moved into developing a full collection of samples which I launched with in 2020. My brand is a women’s contemporary fashion label based in Los Angeles with local manufacturing. I develop the styles using mainly deadstock and sustainable fabric. Our beset-sellers are the Silk Dresses and Sets.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is a lot to learn while starting a business and I’ve worn many hats from developing samples, patterns and shooting looks while designing the full collection.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in developing women’s Resortwear that has been featured in the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood, Madison LA and other boutiques. I’m most proud of developing sustainable fashion collections that stand out with the silk prints.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think the best approach is to go after what is exciting to you and surround yourself with other business owners through pop up markets and meet other people that are passionate about what they are working on.
