Rising Stars: Meet Manuel Fuentes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuel Fuentes.

Manuel Fuentes

Hi Manuel, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My story as an actor begins during the COVID shutdown in 2020. Figuring out a plan from being laid off from my job, I took a leap of faith, working on my social media presence, collaborating with several artists and videographers. My gut feeling told me to join some Facebook groups to do model work. Once joining, one day I came across a post about working as a background actor for a new show called Super Pumped, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The rest was history.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles I faced was networking with others to sign up to castings sites. I felt very intimidated being surrounded by talented actors and actresses. It was a learning process from everyone to really become a full-time working actor. The writers’ strike from last year took a toll the industry and me, as I was unemployed for 7 months. I’m glad things are starting to open back up.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What I do as a background actor is to pantomime and to listen to instructions for any actions on set. My experience has been quite different as I’ve been featured on a lot of TV shows and commercials. Just now, I was casted as a bodyguard in a club scene for a new Netflix series by Sophia Vergara called GRISELDA. I’ve been on music videos for Dreezy, (G)I-Idle, and TV shows such as Super Pumped,

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my family, girlfriend, and health. My family have been there for me, supporting my acting career. They saw how far I could go as an actor when they started seeing me on their TV. My girlfriend (soon-to-be wife) truly believed in me, and that is what I love about her. She makes me feel anything is possible, without her I wouldn’t be where I am today. As always, health is wealth.
