Rising Stars: Meet Liza Garneau of Huntington Beach CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liza Garneau.

Hi Liza, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in upstate New York with a deep love for the seasons and Mother Nature, sparking a lifelong connection to the natural world. At eight, we moved to Long Beach, CA, where whales fascinated me and Wyland’s mural on the Long Beach Convention Center inspired me to volunteer with his foundation and pursue art as well as, helping kids care about ocean conservation.

Raising my two children in Orange County, we explored The Wedge and Laguna’s hidden beaches, fully embracing the vibrant beach lifestyle.

Since my early twenties, I’ve pursued my dream of entrepreneurship, founding Sacred Seas Designs, an ocean-inspired luxury brand that captures the strength and beauty of the ocean and women around the world. Though I’m new to social media, self-taught, and still preparing to fully launch my website, my mission remains clear: to inspire creativity and uniqueness, support young artists, and raise awareness for the ocean. Through my initiative Shine From Within, I combine entrepreneurship and leadership to empower children in hospitals and foster care, my goal is to teach them to use art and creativity as tools for self-expression, resilience, and growth.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, it has not always been a smooth road. As a single mother raising my kids in Orange County, I faced challenges including one child with health issues leading to neuro delays, and my own journey navigating life after a traumatic brain injury. Those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of finding purpose in adversity. They inspired me to create Shine From Within, empowering children in hospitals and foster care to use art and creativity as tools for confidence, self-expression, and growth.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the founder and creative director of Sacred Seas Designs, an ocean-inspired luxury brand specializing in handcrafted jewelry and lifestyle pieces that capture the strength and beauty of the ocean and women around the world. With a background in hospitality and the food & beverage industry, I bring years of experience in leadership, operations, and customer experience to my work. I combine my passion for art, design, and sustainability to create pieces that are both elegant and meaningful. What sets me apart is my focus on intentional creativity, storytelling through design, and integrating mentorship and social impact into every project.

I’m particularly proud of launching Shine From Within, an initiative that empowers children in hospitals and foster care to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop entrepreneurial skills through art. Being able to merge entrepreneurship, creativity, and empowerment drives me every day, and I aim to inspire others to pursue their passions while making a positive impact.

Any big plans?
In 2026 I’m diving deeper into metalsmithing, CAD, and AI-driven design, completing my Jewelry Entrepreneurship Certificate, and growing my brand online through social media, my website, and my Sacred Seas Printify shop. I’m also pursuing grants to expand my small business, as well as my Shine From Within initiative, which focuses on helping children explore creativity, build confidence, and develop entrepreneurial skills. I can’t wait to see these projects come to life and make a meaningful impact.
