Rising Stars: Meet Laurence & Robert Brahm of West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurence & Robert Brahm.

Hi Laurence & Robert, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My brother Robert and I were born in Beijing, China to a Chinese mother and an American father, we grew up traveling around the world, due to our fathers work, and constantly found ourselves exposed to a multitude of cultures. This lead to our creative expression, through different endeavors. I began pursuing a career in film production, content creation with the idea of using visual mediums to bridge cultures. My brother Robert took his path with fashion design, using clothing as a means of cultural expression and a tool to blend our many cultures that we were exposed to growing up together, Chinese, American, European, and African.

We moved to LA in the year of 2022 both with a dream, and to continue to pursue school, during this time we established the brand BRAHM, inspired by our Chinese heritage mixed with LA’s diverse street culture and trend setting fashion.

BRAHM really started with me and my brother just wanting to create something that felt true to who we are. We grew up between cultures, always traveling, always exposed to different ways of seeing the world. When we both ended up in LA for school, we fell in love with how the city’s street fashion mixed so many influences – Asian, African, Latino, American – all in one look. We started BRAHM as a way to express that blend. At first, it was just sketches and ideas between classes, but as we saw the potential to connect cultures through fashion, we continued to invest our all into building the brand. Today, BRAHM isn’t just about clothes – it’s about bridging worlds, telling stories, and showing that who you are and where you come from is your greatest power.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever a smooth road, its the lows that make the highs so great and the bad moments that make out good moments memorable.

Starting BRAHM while still in school meant juggling classes, work, and the brand all at once. There were days we questioned if we were doing the right thing. Another big struggle was figuring out how to actually bring our ideas to life, we had the vision, but finding the right manufacturers, learning about fabrics, sizing, and international logistics was a huge learning curve.

On top of that, being young and trying to prove ourselves in the fashion industry came with a lot of people not taking us seriously at first. But those challenges made us stronger and forced us to really lock in on our purpose. Every setback taught us something we carry with us today.

We however combined out strengths to overcome adversity, using my social media experience, my brothers attention to detail and my knowledge from Law School mixed with my brothers knowledge in fashion marketing it felt like as long as we stuck with each other no struggle was too much to overcome.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now, I wear a lot of hats. I’m a law student specializing in entertainment law, I run BRAHM with my brother, and I also create comedy content on social media to connect people through culture, music, and style. BRAHM is our streetwear brand rooted in bridging cultures, it started in the inner city alleyways of Beijing where we grew up, expanded to LA where I study and live, and now has a presence in Paris. I think what sets us apart is how we don’t just design clothes, we tell stories that mix our Chinese roots, LA street culture, and global influences into one aesthetic.

On social media, I’m known for sharing my journey as an artist, entrepreneur, and law student, breaking stereotypes and showing that you can create your own path. I’m proud that people resonate with that, and it’s given me a platform to uplift others who feel like they don’t fit into just one box. But what I’m most proud of is building BRAHM with my brother from just an idea into an international brand that connects people and cultures. At the end of the day, everything I do is about creating bridges, between fashion and law, East and West, and different communities around the world.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing I’d love to share is that BRAHM really started right here in LA. Our very first shoot was in Chinatown, and that was intentional, we wanted to honor the city’s deep Asian roots while showing how LA street style blends cultures in such a raw and authentic way. Our vision is to keep building on that foundation, not just creating clothes but telling stories that highlight where we come from and where we’re going.

You’ll see BRAHM continue to grow in LA, Beijing, and Paris, but our goal isn’t just to be another streetwear brand. We want to bring a unique perspective to fashion, one that celebrates multicultural identities and shows that true style is about embracing every part of who you are. We hope to keep inspiring people here in LA and all around the world to stand in their truth and wear it proudly.
