Rising Stars: Meet LaToya Tyson

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToya Tyson Multimedia Artist

Hi LaToya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey into Photography 14 years ago now, but I’ve always been a creative. It’s evolved from poetry and writing to music and now Photography and Videography. Each evolution originated in a need to create and to get my perspective out to the world. I like that over time the medium and ways that viewpoint is expressed changes. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has not always been the smoothest, as an artist sometimes your own self-doubt can be just as crippling as external forces out of your control. But at least with yourself; you can learn to manage those feelings, cause in the end that’s all self-doubt is, a feeling that we make real— you can have room to better prepare yourself for the forces you can’t control. Managing the storms so to speak. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Lately, I have really been focusing on what it is I actually love about Photography. It’s taking a concept from idea to reality. How can I find a way to convey mood and intention with my art? That’s the main question I’ve been exploring through my editorial and commercial work. I have been very proud of the fact that I’m still able to still have a true love for photography and to still be creating art.
