Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Short.
Hi Kevin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started with Mom letting us kids use crayons, and watercolors on huge sheets of leftover cardboard and butcher paper, taking over the entire kitchen floor time moves…
University of New Mexico Art Department off to Pepperdine then graduate Art Center.
I become friends with my childhood art hero Rick Griffin, he says just get going and paint.
I muck around with painting for Corporate advertising, some newspapers, and editorial magazines.
I wasn’t a good fit, usually described as too painterly.
I start painting my favorite beaches to relax, and suddenly my friend Gordon McClelland started selling my work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always struggles, everybody has them. I just decided to not quit.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for painting Glare. And painting the life around me. My obsession with everyday moments and subculture. Our every day is enduring. I am proud of my close family and that we can live, love and laugh. I like to paint what I see, it turns out my collectors share a vision. I am very proud that I have collectors that are thoughtful, kind, and spiritual people.
How do you think about happiness?
Looking at the water with those I love. It is life.
Time can slow down when you are with people you care about and you take in those moments.
