Rising Stars: Meet Juliette Poirier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliette Poirier.

Hi Juliette, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a French woman living in Los Angeles, I have had a diverse and exciting career journey. I was born and raised in Poissy, a charming town in the Parisian region where I also pursued my education. After completing my studies in business in Shanghai, I worked in several customer service roles, leveraging my natural ability to connect with people. As a producer in the film industry, I specialize in bringing ideas to life and creating compelling stories that resonate with audiences. I have worked on a variety of projects, including music videos, short films, and commercials

Eventually, I found my calling in logistics, where I could use my skills to optimize operations and build strong client relationships. But my passion for the arts never waned. I grew up admiring artists, and my father’s work as a metalworker fueled my own creativity. I’ve always loved visiting art galleries and listening to comedians, and I even pursued acting by studying at the prestigious Cours Florent in Paris. However, I found that my jobs didn’t offer the same level of fulfillment as my love for art.

That’s when life took a surprising turn and brought me into the film industry. With my experience in logistics and relationship-building, I discovered a new passion for producing. I’ve since moved to LA, produced a range of projects, from music videos to short films, and worked as a production team for multiple commercials.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The film industry, being free to choose my schedule, or even quitting everything to start a new life, all of that is super exciting, but smooth… no, I don’t think so. I’m already super happy that I made the decision to change my professional path here in the US. It wouldn’t have been the same story in Europe. There are so many opportunities here, and people trust us, we just have to show that we’re determined and not too stupid. However, moving and adapting to life here, let’s say that it takes time! The other complex point is to succeed in building a small network that allows us to have enough work to support ourselves, I think that, when arriving in the US, is a small challenge, but with patience and work, everything eventually falls into place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a producer in the film industry, I specialize in bringing ideas to life and creating compelling stories that resonate with audiences. I have worked on a variety of projects, including music videos, short films, and commercials. I am known for my ability to optimize budgets, manage crises, and build strong relationships with clients, cast and crew.

Our latest project, “Jean à la 13eme place,” is currently doing well in the French festival scene, particularly at the Nikon film festival where it has been noticed by Sens Critique, a French media. The film is a great source of pride for me and my team, as it showcases our skills and creativity in a unique way. “Jean à la 13eme place” tells the story of a man who has to confront differences to move on and find happiness. It’s a powerful and emotional film that resonates with audiences. What sets us apart from others is our ability to combine technical expertise with creativity to produce high-quality films that capture the essence of our team’s vision.

What sets me apart from others is my unique background in both business and the arts. With a Master’s degree in Supply Chain and experience in customer service and logistics, I bring a strong organizational and managerial skillset to my work…and maybe my addiction to Excel

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I believe that on a personal level, it’s crucial to prioritize doing what we enjoy and find fulfilling in life. The pandemic has reminded us of the fragility and unpredictability of life, and it’s become increasingly clear that time is our most valuable resource. Pursuing activities and hobbies that bring us joy and a sense of purpose can help us lead more fulfilling lives and ultimately lead to greater happiness and satisfaction. In fact, it’s what pushed me to leave and dare to change career paths to pursue a job that I truly enjoyed. I’m not sure if I would have had the courage to do it otherwise
