Rising Stars: Meet Jenna Michele of Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Michele

Hi Jenna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2017 I recieved a brain injury and i was having a hard time with it; so my friend invited me to her sculpture class to try and cheer me up.

It absolutely worked because I fell in love with clay. Unfortunately, I was not able to take a class until 2020 when I quit my job, which to be honest was the best thing I ever did. I took my first ceramics class and I have been playing with clay every since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There has definitely been struggles. The hardest part for me has been to grow my online presence but honestly I think I just love ceramics so much that nothing really stops me from doing it. When you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make a lot of hand made ceramic pieces but I am known for my mugs; more specifically for mugs that have my intrusive thoughts on them that people seem to really connect with. For example, “Mind your own vagina,” “Manifest that shit bitch,” “Cunt,” and “Be so fucking forreal right now.”

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My fur babies matter to me more than anything else in this world. I had a really hard time after my brain injury and my babies really helped bring me back to life and made me care about life again. Everything I do is for them.
