Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaslynn Peterson.
Hi Jaslynn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography journey in church, shadowing my Godmother as she captured moments during services. At the time, I didn’t realize it would become a passion of mine. Years later, while serving as a yearbook advisor, I found myself behind the camera again and something clicked. My students began supporting my art, asking me to take their pictures, and through them, I rediscovered the joy of storytelling through images. From that moment, I fell in love with capturing moments that hold meaning forever.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve cried, I’ve failed, and at times I’ve lost parts of myself in the process. One of my biggest struggles was failing a client that moment stayed with me because I’ve always wanted to be good enough and get it right every time. But photography, like life, doesn’t always go as planned. I had to learn that mistakes don’t define me; they teach me. It’s okay not to get it right every time what matters is that you keep growing and never give up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a creative photographer who specializes in capturing moments and turning them into stories that reflect each client’s individuality. I’m known for my bright colors, unique editing style, and for bringing a fresh perspective to sports photography as a female photographer in a male-dominated space. What I’m most proud of is my ability to highlight the uniqueness in every person I photograph to help them see themselves the way the world should. The excitement, laughter, and genuine energy I bring to each session are what set me apart and make every experience memorable.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was joyful, loving, dependable, and always the funny one in the group. As the baby girl and a triplet I naturally connected with people and rarely met any enemies. I’ve always had a strong mind and a big heart, and once I believed in something, it was hard to change my mind. That determination has followed me into adulthood and continues to shape how I show up in my work and life today.
