Rising Stars: Meet Ivet Pelcastre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivet Pelcastre.

Hi Ivet, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up my mom was in the hair salon at least once a month that her cousin owned and I was always there with my mom. And I grew to love seeing the transformations and seeing how happy a simple color or cut would have people feeling! I knew it’s what I wanted to do when I was older. When I was getting close to graduation I still knew I wanted to become a Cosmetologist, I graduated Highschool in 2012 and that’s same year I signed up for a waiting list at a beauty school that had great reviews and the following year I was in! I have been on my own for about five years now and I am happier than ever! In 2018, I started at my Dream hair salon! In Malibu, CA I loved the owner and all the stylists I was there for about eight months and the Malibu fires happened and we were out of a job, so I decided to offer housecalls and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I kept all my clients as housecall clients, I also started at another hair salon in Westlake and also offered housecalls and little by little I grew a big housecall clientele! I now have most of my clients as housecalls while still working in the salon to offer clients a salon to come in when they don’t want a housecall! I am also a makeup artist and have dove into that a little more since the pandemic. I love what I do and love the people I get to meet and have in my life now!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have blessed to say it has been a very smooth road! I have to say the pandemic was the hardest for me as well as many stylists, but communication with my clients was very important. Also believing in yourself no matter what!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hair and makeup artist located in the LA / Ventura / Santa Barbara counties! I specialize in women’s color and styling! I have also become very fond of bridal styling as well. The one thing that sets me apart is I offer house calls, I come to the comfort of your home to give you the most relaxing experience. I am very proud to say I am always willing to learn more and more, I love education because we are always learning new techniques and ways of doing things. I love any feedback, I love when my clients let me know how our appointments go, if they have any tips for me I always encourage and welcome them so I am always bettering myself and my work!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always a very happy and energetic little girl. I love sports and did many things as a Child (all my energy needed to go somewhere!) I played soccer did gymnastics and karate over summers! I loved helping others and loved playing dress up and doing my hair and makeup. I always loved giving my mom manicures and pedicures growing up too. I always said what was in my mind and never kept my mouth shut lol.
