Today we’d like to introduce you to Hustle.
Hi Hustle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My interest in stage performance started in middle school. I was casted in a school play and loved it. I signed up for choir and acting classes in high school. This eventually led to dancing and DJ-ing. Being an entertainer has always been a dream of mine since then. During my college years, I took theater classes and was casted for the Shakespeare play. This carried on into my adult life. I started auditioning for TV shows and commercials. I did a few movies and short films along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is smooth, especially in 2020. But we all adapt and rise with the tides. My career is filled with ups and downs. It’s part of the process of being an actor. Like most actors, I went to thousands of auditions and callbacks. I got put on the available list countless number of times. Sometimes I get booked, sometimes not. But each progressive step is closer to film day. Yet, nothing is guaranteed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m definitely a person who never gives up. I’ll try anything and everything to improve and enhance my skills. I take it as a challenge to try new things and put myself out there. Most recently, I’ve done red carpet events for a television show called HuslteTV. This was pre-COVID, so as we all know things were VERY different. I was already familiar with being in front of the camera as an actor, so this made it easy for me to adjust. I ended up hosting, filming and editing my own footage. Eventually, this led me to backstage interviews and on-stage performances. I lived up my name of “Hustle”.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Come prepared, focused, and on-time. Especially during auditions for speaking roles. I need to know my lines and everyone else’s lines. It never fails, the director asks us to switch roles. It’s a competition for one role, and I make sure I put in every effort I have to book it. So respecting everyone’s time and arriving prepared is priority.
