Rising Stars: Meet Huan Zhao

Today we’d like to introduce you to Huan Zhao.

Huan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our puppy Yumi came to live with us when she was four months old in 2021. Because of our background as fashion designers and artists, I started trying to make bow ties for Yumi based on our aesthetic. That‘s how our neighbors and friends started asking for customizations in our designs and suggesting that we go to local markets, and hence our brand was born in Pasadena. Over the past two years, we have attended many different markets in the Los Angeles area, and as more and more people have shown their love to our brand and shared their stories, we have found more meaning and fulfillment in these moving stories and testaments. We treat Yumi not only as a pet but also as a family member and our bestest friend. This is the brand philosophy of YUMI&FRIENDS – we want every little life in the world to be treated seriously and kindly.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I know we still have a long way to go in terms of product development and sales. Along the way, I have been supported and encouraged by so many people. At the same time, I am lucky. Because of love, I am more determined to keep going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I majored in fine art and fashion design. After graduation, I was engaged in teaching fashion design and painting. Being able to do what we love makes us feel happy and satisfied. Occasionally, I hold small exhibitions with my friends, and in the future I hope I can be with everything I love.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think sincerity is the best passport, whether it is family, friends or people we don’t know, always keeping a sincere attitude will make each other more relaxed.
