Today we’d like to introduce you to Felipe Morales.
Hi Felipe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, but I didn’t start my dance career until I was 19, when I decided to move to New York to attend dance school. It’s been a long journey; however, consistency has been key in helping me get a little closer to my dreams. I’ve met amazing mentors and been introduced to an incredible community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely hard to move to a whole new country to follow your dreams, so that was one of the first challenges I faced when my journey began. But I’ve made amazing connections and met incredible people along the way.
In my artistic career, there are definitely times when you doubt yourself and question whether everything you’re doing is the right thing. But discipline and consistency are always very important to keep pushing forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been dancing and assisting choreographers and directors for the past five years, but I only recently started teaching choreography classes as well. It has been such an amazing experience to share a bit of my journey with others, and seeing someone’s growth as a result of my guidance is truly rewarding.
What matters most to you? Why?
At this moment in my life, being able to feel peace and be happy with what I’m doing is very important. We’re so used to constantly chasing dreams and goals—ones we’re not even sure will bring us joy—that we forget to live in the moment and truly appreciate where we are right now.
