Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Scott.
Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, I moved several times. I loved it, I was fascinated by the process behind each move. I remember sitting at the kitchen table as our realtor organized paperwork by hand and asked me, at seven years old, what I wanted to be when I grew up. Without hesitation, I told her I wanted to do exactly what she did.
Years later, after becoming a young mom and stepping away from school, getting my real estate license felt like the best next move. It offered flexibility for my family and a chance to really succeed when I was ready. In a full-circle moment, that same realtor went on to train me and become my mentor.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In some ways it has been smooth. I have been with the same brokerage for my entire career. I have a great support system there. I have also had the privilege to work with wonderful clients and help them achieve their goals. Real estate in general is not a smooth road, it’s never a straight line. But it’s my job to make sure my client has a smooth experience. There are many parts of the job that are not glamorous or fun but those parts are not for me to share. It’s our job, in my opinion, to present our clients with ease and joy. Not burden them with the dog shit we had to clean up before they got there, ha!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a real estate agent. I advise my clients on buying and selling property. It is a lengthy, and stressful process. I try to take as much of the stress out as possible, and connect them with great people to ensure a great transaction from start to finish. I specialize in the San Fernando Valley. I am most proud anytime I see my clients happily settled in a home we found together. What sets me apart is that I am deeply honest. Almost to a fault. If I see anything that isn’t right, I will be the first to point it out. I am not interested in selling anyone anything. What fulfills me is seeing my clients light up, knowing that they have found the perfect home and then writing a lovely offer, and delivering them great news that we’re in escrow. Conversely, letting a client know they are getting more than what they hoped for when selling. Those are the best conversations and make it all worth it.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being with my family makes me happy. A big part of why I am a realtor is that I work for myself and make my own hours. It is rare that I can’t drop off or pickup my kids because of work. I can always tuck them in. We find joy in the simplest activities. Right now, we’re really into flying kites up on a ridge a short walk from our house. Anytime I’m outside with people I love, I am happy.
