Rising Stars: Meet Elijah Ensor of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Ensor

Hi Elijah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been dreaming and preparing to be an artist since I was 11 years old! I was actually in a shower singing and a friend of my moms that is in the business said “OMG your son is an artist”! From that moment on my parents embarked on this crazy journey with me. I started taking guitar lessons, dance lessons, and vocal lessons and started singing and posting videos whenever I could. I’m a military brat and one of four kids so it was hard for my parents to jump on planes with me but they did. Through highschool I spent my time on music and lacrosse becoming an highschool All American and being recruited to play D1. After going to Ohio State to play lacrosse I realized my passion to be a musician was stronger than my want to be in a classroom. I’ve been releasing songs and working and learning from some of the best in the industry. I decided to move to LA a couple of years ago to just totally emerge myself in the arts community. Creatively LA has been where I have really found myself and my sound. The last 6 months have been incredible I’ve released two new songs and been able to play at many venues in LA.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definetely not been a smooth road for me. I have learned a lot of lessons on people over promising, I have struggled with understanding that it’s not just talent in this business but perseverance. I didn’t realize the effect of having to be a social media genius, marketing manager and writer, musician and singer would all be necessary. Sometimes I get in my head with all of it and I just get stuck. At these moments I’ve got to look around and remember why I started and it was to tell stories that people relate too.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Along with being a musician and performer in LA I also teach a class called Rumble in Burbank and in West Hollywood. It’s a boxing inspired fitness class where you can find me combining my love of fitness and music! I believe the thing that sets me apart right now is that I’m authentically myself, I don’t stick myself in a box musically. I’m inspired by many genres of music and I hope people can tell that.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I wish that I knew I should be myself. The worst thing you can do is try to be someone else that’s popular. The quicker you find yourself and live who you are the better! My mom told me early there’s going to be a lot of no’s but there will be a yes one day!
