Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Lucia.
Hi Diana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As long as I can remember , I have been intrigued by all things beauty , the sounds and smells of a bustling beauty salon , and the magic being created by those who work there. I knew from an early age that my calling was within the world of beauty. I started my career in the 2000’s, back then hair was very edgy and punk and a company from London by the name of Toni&Guy had created a fabulous product line called Bed Head. I went to work for them and learned everything there was to know about cutting hair.
As trends evolved a less rigid approach to hairstyling replaced the flat irons and hair waxes and welcomed a more natural one that didn’t fight curls and waves but rather embraced them. I went to work for Ouidad and learned as much about natural textures and curls and the care of them as I could. now after being behind the chair for over 25 years , I’ll never stop learning as our industry , just like hair, is ever moving and changing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have been very lucky in my career choice. Doing something I love has made work fun and even after all these years I never feel bored. Building lifelong relationships with clients and going through big milestones with them is extremely fulfilling
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My top 3 specialties are hair cutting, balayage and curly hair. Hair cutting all textures and creating soft natural shapes that require minimal styling and grow out very well, have always been my top achievements.
Natural looking color that complements each clients unique style and preserves the health of the hair is a must for me
Helping clients who are confused or afraid to approach their natural curls of just making their curls look their absolute best best is my top priority
What matters most to you? Why?
Continuity, kindness, honesty. Really listening to your clients needs , letting them know what is possible and what isn’t and why, giving them nothing less than excellence in all the work you do.
