Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney LaChance.
Hi Courtney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Leisure of NYC to solve the problem of having basics where I needed them most – in hotel rooms. I traveled so much for work and would lose my bags constantly — I wanted to have something comfy to make me feel at home directly in my room.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Finding a good manufacturer took us about three years. We still go through seasons with manufacturers… currently, our Supima cotton fabric vendor stopped producing that fabric due to inflation and price so we are constantly looking for manufacturers it seems like.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What sets us apart is our fabric, We spent years developing our products and I didn’t want just another t-shirt. I wanted to make the best basics out there. T-shirts I had at the time always got holes in them.. etc. I wanted to make something sustainable, long-lasting and also just incredibly soft.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Find a community that you can walk through this with! It is not easy but you can do it if you keep going… thats all it takes.
