Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecilia Tripp
Hi Cecilia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my journey in social media back in 2016. I moved out to Los Angeles as an actor in 2014 and began working with a small production company. I helped them build a blog from the ground up and fell in love with helping create online stories. It felt like it was the perfect way to stretch my story telling skills and step into different “characters”. Having helped launch a successful blog I began helping others build their online presence and realized that I could do this full time. Today I help over 15 different brands and influencers share their unique stories online.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many struggles along the way. I am completely self taught when it comes to running a business so learning the ins and outs of that has been extremely challenging. Learning how to set boundaries and create a flexible schedule that works for both my clients and my family has been something I work to improve daily. I’ve also had to do a lot of work on knowing when I need to say no to work because I know I’m not the right person for the job or that I don’t mesh well with the potential client. When you first start out it feels like you have to take every opportunity that comes along but that’s simply not true. It’s not good for the client and it’s certainly not good for you. I have gotten significantly stronger in knowing where I thrive and where I know I’m not going to be a good fit and knowing how to communicate that with others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work as a Social Media Manager and Web Designer. I specialize in working with nonprofits and small business owners.
I think I am most proud of the relationships I have built with my clients. Most of the organizations I am working with have been with me for more than 5 years. We’ve grown together, experimented together, failed together, and through it all we trust each other and they know that I have their best interest in mind and that I’m continuously trying new ways to keep their messaging authentic to who they are as a person or brand.
The thing that sets me a part is that I have a creative background so stepping into the world of what they do is easier for me than it might be for others. I also create an environment that’s extremely collaborative. I don’t just take over their accounts, I meet with them regularly to check in on how they are feeling, see if there is anything new they would like to explore, and make sure that I am constantly aligning with their voice and their mission.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The one who deserves the most credit is my husband. From day one of me deciding to start my own company he has been my biggest cheerleader and has helped make sure I have the time, space, and energy to nurture my business. From taking care of our kids to recommending clients to helping with the finances, he is constantly behind the scenes lifting me up and cheering me on.
