Rising Stars: Meet Casey Kopp of The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Kopp.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Trivia Tycoon started as a brain child in August of 2024 and we launched in June 2025! Between myself and my two partners, Nick and Ben, we all LOVE bar trivia and have either hosted or played frequently over the years. Over time, we realized a lot of bar trivia was mundane, too hard or just not as fun as it could be! Together, we came up with the idea to create a more lively, gamified bar trivia experience and thus, Trivia Tycoon was born!

Trivia Tycoon is an experience unlike any other bar trivia! We have speed rounds, bonus point opportunities, strategy rounds, puzzle rounds and so much more. Players can easily submit on their phones, hosts are vibrant and bar owners are happy because players keep coming back for more!

Since I was a kid, I’ve been making trivia games and hosting them for my family at our holiday gatherings. Fast forward and now I’ve been hosting bar trivia for over 5 years, so I’m really passionate about the player experience. Ben, a trivia lover & player, has been a software engineer for over 12 years and built our player website and host website from scratch and created incredible features. Nick, a player and host, brings his TV locations scouting experience and creative producing to the team by marketing and selling our services to local venues. Together we create a trifecta.

Overall, we are passionate about the player experience and filling our local bars with a lively crowd. Building a sense of community is important to us and our hosts facilitate that at each venue.

We are currently in 8 bars and growing! We’re located mostly in the valley right now, but just launched a Long Beach location and are launching in Sacramento this fall.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’re lucky because the three of us make a great team and all bring something to the table that’s irreplaceable. However, learning how to navigate the “startup” world has been tough at times and has taught us a lot! You’d think creating a bar trivia company is as simple as writing games and hiring hosts…but, it’s so much more.

We’ve been learning so many things…like how to build and grow a social media following, how to create posts that engage viewers, how to find an insurance broker (and what even is an insurance broker?!), how to set up payroll, how to interview and hire the best hosts, how to sell to bars, how to prove to bars that we will dedicate every bone in our bodies to give them the best possible product…..and more!!!

I’d say it’s been smooth so far, but we’ve really absorbed anything and everything to make sure that we’re giving the best possible product to our bars, hosts and players.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
By day, I’m a daytime television producer, by night, I’m a trivia host and writer! My career in TV began in Nashville of all places at an amazing talkshow called Pickler&Ben. Since then I’ve worked at other shows including The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Jennifer Hudson Show. I’m a daytime TV celebrity producer, so I research celebrities for a living, interview them and prepare them for their segments on TV! It’s been an incredible journey so far. Between amazing bosses, mentors, coworkers, and celebrities, I’ve collected some priceless memories. My career in TV was once a childhood dream that became a reality and I’m beyond grateful for my experiences.

Apart from being behind the camera, you can also catch me in front of the camera! I love to interview people, cook on my instagram, live stream products, quiz people on the streets and more! I’m known for my lively personality and my ability to bring people together. Anyone who knows me, knows I like to have fun and create fun for others!

Sometimes I have to stop and remember how far I’ve come. A girl from Texas with no connections in TV, now working in TV and building a gamified bar trivia company….it’s a lot but it’s everything I could have ever dreamed of. Now, I didn’t get here alone! I have a lot of family and friends who’ve supported and encouraged me along the way. It’s crazy to think of all the support I’ve gotten – throughout my life as a whole and throughout our Trivia Tycoon journey.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re starting your own business, just KEEP GOING! There will be moments where you stop and think, “How am I actually going to do this?!” But you can. If you’re passionate enough about what you’re doing and surrounding yourself with good people you can accomplish anything.

Something that I didn’t see coming that’s really blown me away, is the amount of peers who’ve offered their resources. Think about people in your circle who have expertise and knowledge that can benefit you. We’ve had an unprecedented amount of help from friends and family who’ve provided their brain power, services and support. Good people want to see good people succeed. And it’s okay to not know everything. Learn as you go and use your village!
