Today we’d like to introduce you to CARA.
Hi CARA , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, and music has always been my language. I started playing the flute when I was twelve, and that’s really where my connection to sound and storytelling began. Over time, that passion grew into writing and producing my own songs. My breakout moment came with “Away from You (Jump Smokers Remix)” and later “FIGHT,” my official remake of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right to Party,” which was licensed by SONY ATV and approved by The Beastie Boys and Rick Rubin.
But everything truly changed after I lost my mother and brother. That kind of grief reshapes you. Music became my outlet — a way to turn pain into purpose. It’s what led me to create THE KRONICLES, my upcoming autobiographical album that blends pop, trap, and alternative influences, while bringing my flute — something deeply personal to me — back into focus.
My singles “BLVD” and “TEARS” both mark major milestones in this new chapter. “BLVD” is all about unapologetic self-expression, while “TEARS” dives into the raw side of loss and love. They both represent who I am today — stronger, unfiltered, and using music to empower others to own their story too.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all — it’s been anything but smooth. My path has been filled with loss, reinvention, and learning how to stand back up when everything around me fell apart. Losing my mother and brother was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. There were moments I didn’t even recognize myself, but music became my anchor — the one place I could turn pain into something purposeful.
On top of that, being a woman in this industry means constantly having to prove yourself — creatively, professionally, emotionally. There’s pressure to fit into certain boxes, but I’ve learned to break them instead. Every obstacle has pushed me closer to my truth and my sound.
Those struggles shaped THE KRONICLES. They gave it depth and soul. I wouldn’t be the artist I am today without walking through those fire moments — they forced me to create from a place of honesty, not perfection.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter, and producer — but more than anything, I’m a storyteller. My music blends pop, trap, and alternative elements, all tied together by the flute, which I’ve played since I was twelve. It’s become part of my identity — something unexpected in my genre that adds emotion and edge to my sound.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built my career by staying authentic, even when it wasn’t easy. My remake of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right to Party,” licensed by SONY ATV and approved by The Beastie Boys and Rick Rubin, was a huge moment because it proved that I could honor the past while bringing something fresh to it. But the real turning point has been my upcoming album THE KRONICLES. It’s deeply personal — a reflection of loss, growth, and rebirth.
What sets me apart is fearlessness. I’m not afraid to blend vulnerability with power, or to show beauty through imperfection. Every track I release — from BLVD to TEARS — carries a piece of my truth. My goal isn’t just to make music people hear; it’s to make music people feel.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success isn’t about numbers or charts — it’s about alignment. It’s being able to look at my life and my art and know they’re coming from an honest place. There was a time when I measured success by external validation — the streams, the stages, the collaborations — but after everything I’ve been through, it’s shifted.
Now, success means creating work that moves people, that reminds someone they’re not alone. It’s walking into a room and owning who I am — flaws, scars, and all — without shrinking for anyone. If my music can make even one person feel seen or inspired to keep going, that’s success to me.
