Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Cade
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve loved music as far back as I can remember & like so many black kids raised in America I would dance every time I heard Michael Jackson. From there I remember singing Lauryn Hill songs in the backseat of my dad’s old Honda Civic and thinking I wanna do this forever. Now I’m 32 and that same childlike joy that came from music is still alive and honestly doing better than ever now, because that joy comes from my own music.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I was always reminded that anything worth having never comes easy and that in order to master anything 10,000 hours has to be dedicated to your craft of choice.
I started making music at 16, so you can imagine the growing pains of being a teen transitioning to a young adult has its own struggles then you add my pursuit for a music career to that and you get some interesting experiences. From dealing with women, parents wanting me to pursue a different career and even the struggles from within as far as self confidence and jealousy. The journey has been far from smooth sailing but it’s made me the man I am today & I appreciate all my defining moments.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an artist, I use my conscious ability and imagination to create music but I love all aspects of art.
I’m an R&B artist to my core but I have a deep love for hip hop as well, my most memorable moments have been opening for Jason DeRulo & Kendrick Lamar, performing in Austin Texas for SXSW as well as performing at the notorious SOBs in NYC.
I believe my genuine love for great music is what sets me a part from other R&B artists, I am inspired and motivated by so many artists and genres and that adds a universal feeling to my style of R&B
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lessons I’ve learned are firstly the journey is more important than the destination & that quitters never win & winners never quit
