Rising Stars: Meet Brandon Rembert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Rembert.

Hi Brandon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am Division 1 baseball player and MLB Draft prospect at Alcorn State University. Alcorn State University is a Historically Black College in Mississippi. I’m trying to change the way African-Americans are being looked at in college baseball because HBCU baseball is not as widely broadcast and know as I personally think it should be. I am trying to be a pioneer for HBCU baseball players and African-American players in general and let others know that there are good HBCU ballplayers out there. I have been blessed to be able to be featured in the Shadow League and Sports Illustrated. I am going into my 5th year of school, getting my master’s in Athletic Administration and Coaching after just getting my bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2020. I am a Pensacola, Florida native and the second oldest of 7 kids. I am also 22 years old. As mentioned earlier, I am trying my best to help gain exposure for African-Americans and HBCU players in the sport of baseball.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for me throughout my baseball career. My journey has been filled with ups and downs and I’ve had many injuries throughout my career. When I was going into my freshman year of high school, I broke my hip diving for a baseball. I wasn’t able to walk for months and couldn’t run until about six months after the surgery. Throughout the rest of my high school and college career, I’ve had about 6-7 more injuries, but they were a little more minor. All of my injuries taught me how to persevere and instilled in me the ability to get back up after being knocked down.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Division 1 baseball player at Alcorn State University. I am a fifth year senior getting my master’s degree currently. I am known by many as one of the top players in my conference garnering Pre-Season First-Team All-Conference honors in 2020. I am an outfielder for my team.

How do you define success?
I define success as attaining the goals that one sets out for themselves. I feel like reaching and completing goals that one sets out for themself is the epitome of being successful in my eyes. So may think becoming a billionaire is reaching success and others may think that losing 20 pounds is being successful. Everyone has their own personal ideas of what success is. I just personally think success comes when one reaches goals that they set out for themselves.
