Today we’d like to introduce you to Blas Nunez
Hi Blas , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello! My name is Blas Nunez, and I’m a celebrity makeup artist. I currently work freelance and at the TV channel Estrella TV. I came to the United States with big dreams when I was just 6 years old. When my parents brought me here, I witnessed firsthand how much they struggled to build a better life for our family. I started attending Haddon Elementary School in the 2nd grade. Every Thursday, I would wake up early to collect cans before school to earn money for things I needed. I’ve always loved working, even as a child. At first, my big American dream was to become a police officer, but as I grew older, my passion shifted to the beauty industry. Unfortunately, I couldn’t secure a regular job because I wasn’t born here and didn’t have the proper documentation. So, I worked at a flea market and later at a gas station to pay for my college education. After two marriages, I finally obtained my papers and enrolled in beauty school. I worked at MAC Cosmetics for 9 years, and then I went on a nationwide tour with Ninel Conde. It was a dream come true! Doors began to open, and I had the opportunity to work with big celebrities like Lucia Mendez, Maricela, Alieda Nunez, Wendy Guevara, and many more. It wasn’t an easy journey, but I made it my goal to succeed in the beauty industry. Now, I’m here, living my dream. I currently work at a TV station, which I love, and I’m also part of the team at *Don Cheto Al Aire*. I’m passionate about what I do, and I want to tell everyone that life isn’t easy—we all face challenges—but we are all capable of achieving our dreams if we don’t give up. Life is beautiful!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been a lot of struggles. Coming to the United States and realizing I couldn’t work or attend college to help my family because I didn’t have papers was a daily challenge. But I never let it stop me. I worked at the flea market for $20 a day, doing whatever I could to get by. Life got better when I received my Social Security number. I pursued my dreams relentlessly and didn’t give up. I still have a lot to accomplish, but I feel blessed. I’m grateful for all the challenges I faced because they shaped me into the person I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a makeup artist and hairstylist. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of my favorite celebrities and meeting incredible personalities along the way.
