Rising Stars: Meet Anthony Ballew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Ballew.

Hi Anthony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory. 
My story begins in Los Angeles, which is both my hometown and major source of inspiration for my work. The dichotomy of hope and heartbreak. Hollywood, being the epicenter of glamour and aspiration, coupled with the hard realities that growing up in south central reveals. After graduating from Morehouse College, I spent time in London. While on assignment there, I fell in Love with Art, The British Grunge Movement, and the beauty of the past. 

I Started off distressing rock tees, which then are into a unisex brand that represented elf expression and strength. I wanted to create an edgy aesthetic for the rebels of the world. 

As an independent Black entrepreneur at a young age, you’re forced into roles to fulfill your needs, so naturally, my evolution led me behind the camera in order to showcase my designs. After a decade of self-taught photography, I can say my vision has far exceeded the lens, beyond my expectations, and is a gift I am thankful for. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There definitely are bumps in the road; I believe every artist and entrepreneur could attest to that; nothing worth having ever comes easy, and the key is to never give up. 

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Art Director, Photographer, and Designer with a niche in film / vintage video and photography. Most proud of everyone who goes after a Dream and Every Artist who continues to keep their imagination alive in these times.

Going to Paris for the first time
